Here at Events & Hospitality QM we are proud of our ongoing sustainable food commitment. Our latest initiative is participation in a scheme that will enable us to achieve ‘The Food for Life Catering Mark’.

The Catering Mark is an accreditation that will provide customers of QM with an independent guarantee that the ingredients we use in all of our menus are freshly prepared, free from undesirable additives and better for animal welfare. Initially we are striving to achieve the Bronze award to recognise that we are using more fresh, seasonal, local and organic ingredients in our outlets. More information on the Bronze award can be found on the Soil Association website available at: www.sacert.org/catering/standards/bronze. The Soil Association is the UK's leading membership charity campaigning for healthy, humane and sustainable food, farming and land use.

In support of this new initiative, the QM Catering & Hospitality Service have procured a new butcher to supply meat products, British Premium Meats (BPM) who only supply ‘Red Tractor’ approved meat. Red Tractor is the leading quality assurance scheme for food and drink produced in the UK. It sets standards for food safety, animal welfare and environmental protection on beef & lamb, pork, chicken, turkey and ducks, dairy, fruit and vegetables and crops, like flour and sugar.

The scheme provides assurance at every step of the food supply chain starting with the farm and including the processor and packer, wholesaler and distributor, and the final service of great Red Tractor food and drink. The scheme means that the source of products is transparent and fully traceable.
