QM GREAT HALL PROVES TO BE A ROARING SUCCESS!
The iconic art-deco Great Hall at Queen Mary University of London hosted its first major live concert, following the hall’s £6.3 million refurbishment on the 1st May with a show from Damon Albarn and his band The Heavy Seas.
The multi-purpose Great Hall reopened in 2013 and features a unique marriage of art-deco styling with state-of-the-art sound, lighting and audio-visual system.
One month on, feedback from some of the thousand-strong people in attendance at the event on the quality of the venue has been first class, with Gareth Cheesman on Twitter describing the venue as ‘brilliant….just the right size for (a) good crowd but still close to the action’ with Sam Instone, also on Twitter noting ‘the venue was great, sitting down meant no difference at all’ with both agreeing they would return for future gigs.
